PM Nguyen Tan Dung and Board Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Vitor Borisovich Khristenko on Thursday declared official start of FTA talks between Viet Nam and the Customs Union (consisting of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan).

The Government chief affirmed that Viet Nam attaches importance to the talks under the spirit of equality and mutual benefits.

The FTA is expected to create opportunities for the stakeholders to boost economic, trade and investment linkages.

The deal will cover trade in goods, trade in services, investment, economic cooperation principles among others.

The two-way trade between Viet Nam and the Customs Union reached $2.7 billion in 2012. The FTA would contribute to lifting up the figure to over $10 billion by 2020.
