Vietnam - Vote of confidence for President and Prime Minister scheduled in June

VietNamNet Bridge – In June, the National Assembly will hold the vote of confidence for 49 senior officials. The session will also spend adequate time to review the personal work.

The fifth NA session will open on May 20. This will be the first time the NA implementing Resolution No. 35 on the vote of confidence for the positions that are elected or approved by the NA or the People’s Council.

The vote of confidence is scheduled to be held at the end of the session, on June 12, after the questioning session.

The NA will spend one fourth of day for provincial NA delegations to discuss on the vote of confidence. After that, at the general meeting in the hall, the NA Standing Committee will report to the NA the results of discussion of delegations before the vote.

   

The vote will be taken at the same time for all prescribed positions (including 49 positions on 9 votes).

According to the NA Office, some delegates proposed to hold the vote of confidence three times for three groups to facilitate the collection, counting of votes and announcement of results as well as to express the opinions in voting of deputies.

Accordingly, the first group consists of the Chair, the Vice Chairs of the NA and other members of the NA Standing Committee.

The second group includes the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers and other members of the Government.

The third group consists of the President, the Vice President, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, the Head of the Supreme People's Procuracy and the State Auditor General.

The results of the vote of confidence will be announced the next day, June 13, and will be passed on June 14.

The NA Officice will also spend half a day to review the personnel work (if available).

The 5th NA session will be held from May 20 to June 19. The NA will pass eight bills, and consider the draft revised Constitution and nine other bills. The NA will also discuss other important reports on social and economic development and question some cabinet members.
