VietNamNet Bridge – A list of 32 projects in Quang Ninh Province with investment priority in the period from now to 2015 comprises a recreation complex with a casino operation worth US$4 billion in Van Don Economic Zone.
As per Decision 677 of Quang Ninh’s government, the province is calling for investment into multiple large-scale projects in infrastructure, traffic, tourism, trade and agriculture. Tourism stands out with mega projects such as the recreation complex covering 1,800-2,000 hectares in Van Don District.
“Many foreign investors have shown interest in this casino project but none has drawn up a specific plan.
Therefore, the province puts it on the list of projects with investment priority to accelerate its progress,” said Ha Quang Long, director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh.
In addition, the province is seeking investors for three golf courses, including a 27-hole course combined with a five-star hotel and a villa area covering 300 hectares in Van Don District. The other two will be located in Halong City, occupying 190 hectares and 75.3 hectares respectively.
Some other multi-million-dollar tourism projects are Quang Ninh Airport and an international exhibition center in Mong Cai and Hon Gai tourist port.
“With dozens of projects in tourism and tourism infrastructure, the province wants to lay a foundation for breakthrough in Quang Ninh tourism for our future,” said Long.
The provincial government and the Institute for Tourism Development Research are making a development plan for tourism from now to 2020, with a vision to 2030, which is set for completion in the next few months.
Under Decision 677, all traffic projects will be developed under the format of BOT, BT or PPP. The others will be carried out by joint ventures or wholly owned by investors.
