Skilled workers have front running for jobs

Enterprises and companies in HCM City need nearly 23,000 employees in June, a drop of 10 per cent compared to May, said Tran Anh Tuan, deputy head of the city's labour market centre.
The demand for manual workers for manufacturing and processing accounts for 25 per cent out of the total number of workers, according to reports from the Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information.
Many companies this month are looking for skilled employees with management capacity and advanced techniques as well as working experiences.
They are in the fields of business administration, marketing, IT, finance-banking-accountancy-auditing, tourism-hotels, and healthcare-pharmacies.
Of the total number of employees that are needed, university graduates account for 12 per cent, and colleges and vocational schools, 45 per cent each.
Tuan remarked that the city's labour market in June and until the year-end would not be stable because of inflation, which has led to more layoffs.
In May, an imbalance between companies' labour needs and supply continued, according to the centre's report.
In particular, there was an insufficient number of staff to supply to companies in the fields of marketing, business, construction and mechanics.
In May, the supply of accountants, auditors and personnel administrators was higher than companies' and enterprises' needs.
According to the city's Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, 104,300 jobs were filled in the first five months of the year.
