Vietnam - City school’s wage policy angers employees

Many teaching and other staff at the private Van Lang University in Ho Chi Minh City are miffed with what they call are its unfair wage policy and wrongdoings.

They claimed that people in comparable positions are paid differently while some with poor qualifications get more than those with better ones.
The school sometimes pays new recruits more than veterans even when the latter are deans and assistant deans, they said.
Four of the deans and other employees have also lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Education and Training against alleged wrongdoings at the university.
They have threatened to go on strike if things are not investigated and rectified.
The school says among its missions is supplying an “ethical” workforce to the labor market.
