LookAtVietnam - Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) will make plans for six of seven tourist regions of the whole nation for submission to the Government for approval within the next two years.
The strategy for regional tourist development is one of the new points in the tourism development planning of Vietnam in the new stage.
VNAT will complete zoning plans for tourism development in three regions next year, namely the Red River Delta and northeast littoral area, the north central coast, and the western highlands.
Meanwhile, master plans for the remaining three regions comprising the south central coast, the southeastern region, and the Mekong Delta are scheduled to be completed one year later.
Particularly, the comprehensive planning for tourism development in the northern midland which was approved previously will be revised in 2013.
According to VNAT, the advantages of developing tourist regions are to create large destination products with unique characteristics and high competitiveness to make Vietnam tourism products become more attractive.
Moreover, this model will help policy makers build mechanism and management policy as well as calling for investment and product development in accordance with each region’s characteristics.
Each region is expected to focus on developing key tourist areas and national tourist attractions.
Hoang Thi Diep, deputy head of VNAT, said that the country would have up to 39 national tourism sites by the year of 2030.
Some national tourist areas to be put into planning from 2013 to 2015 will be Thac Ba Lake in Yen Bai Province, Dong Van Geo-Park in Ha Giang Province, Dackrong ecological tourist site, Hai Van – Son Tra ecological tourist site in Danang and Thua Thien Hue, YokDon national park in Daklak Province, Ca Mau-based mangrove forest, Pa Khoang Lake in Dien Bien Province, and Con Son site in Hai Duong Province among others.
