Malaysian

coal-fired power plant in the northern province of Hai Duong on September 9.

direct investment.
National Assembly’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Thi
Kim Ngan, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and the Malaysias ambassador
to Vietnam all attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime
Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said the plant is expected to significantly increase
the power supply in Vietnam once it is up and running.
He also requested that JAKS Resources Berhad
strictly comply with the construction time-table, pay due attention to
environmental impacts and use local labour in the construction process.
The two-turbine power plant will occupy 300
hectares of land in the district and will be built under BOT
(Build-Operate-Transfer) model.
The first turbine of the plant is expected to
begin operation at the end of 2016.
