Vietnam
is ready to celebrate its second biggest festival after Tet, the Mid Autumn
Festival which falls on September 12.
Ho Chi Minh City is set for a slew of plays
and music shows for children.
A show titled “Sparkling Moonlight” featuring
plays and music performances by stars like actor Bao Tri and singers Phuong
Trinh and Nam Cuong will be held September 9 at the Ho Chi Minh City Television
Theatre and broadcast live on HTV9.

11 titled “The Moon of Love” will see children’s songs like “Ruoc Den Trung
Thu” (Mid-Autumn Festival’s Lantern Parade), “Uoc Mo Than Ki” (A Magical
Dream), and “Trang Duong Pho” (Moonlight on Street) sung by My Tam, Xuan Phu,
Ho Trung Dung, and Phuong Vy.
Essays written by children expressing their
feelings about the traditional festival will be read at the show.
“The Moon of Love” will also be aired live on
HTV9.
Children interested in puppets can enjoy the
“Magic flute without magic” performance at Children House in Tan Binh District
on September 8, 9, and 10.
The Labor Culture Palace will organize an
event for needy children living in District 1 consisting of water puppetry,
music, plays, folk games, and a lantern parade.
A lantern exhibition will also take place at
the Children’s House on September 11 and 12.
On the same days Dam Sen Park will put up
shows featuring plays by artists from IDECAF Theater and acrobatics
performances.
In Hanoi, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology will
celebrate the festival with an event for children.
From September 10 to 12 visitors will have the
chance to get to know about the cultures of people in coastal provinces like
Binh Thuan, Quang Ngai, and Nam Dinh.
Children can learn how to knit fishing nets
and make fishing hooks and also how to make a traditional lantern. Many folk
games will also be showcased.
“Mid-Autumn Festival 2011” in Hoi An promises
to offer children many interesting activities.
Some 500 students from primary schools will
take part in a lantern parade around the city on September 11.
Other activities like music shows, lion
dancing, and painting competitions will offer local children as well as
tourists an impressive spectacle.
The local Youth Union will hand out gifts to
more than 100 poor children on September 12.
The central city of Da Nang will try to bring
joy to children affected by dioxin, giving away gifts to around 1,000 of them
on September 8 and 9.
Megastar Cineplex on Hung Vuong Street will
raise funds from the public for dioxin victims to celebrate the festival.
