The
world-renowned English National Ballet is headed to Vietnam and will entertain
audiences in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this month.
The UK ballet dancers are scheduled to perform
at the Opera House in Hanoi on Sept. 14 and at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House
on Sept. 16, the British Council Vietnam said in a press release on Sept. 9.
The trip, arranged by the British Council
Vietnam and sponsored by the UK-based Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking
Corporation Limited (HSBC), represents the first visit by the prestigious
ballet company to Vietnam.
“This is historic visit by a world renowned
ballet company which is celebrating a major milestone,” said Robin Rickard,
British Council Vietnam Director.
“We are delighted by their decision to appear
in Vietnam and share not just their performance but also their expertise in their
sector too.”
One of the major attractions for local
audiences will be the performance of Vue de l’Autre with choreography by
Vietnamese dancer Le Ngoc Van, who was born in Hanoi and joined English
National Ballet in 2003.
Other highlights include performances of Trois
Gnossiennes, excerpts from Suite en Blanc and the Black Swan Pas de Deux.
English National Ballet will also deliver a
master class for the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Vietnam
College of Dance in Hanoi on September 13.
A further class will be designed for the HCM
City Ballet and Symphony Orchestra and the HCM City College of Dance on
September 16.
