Japan - Japan, China, RoK and Vietnam discuss educational issues

VietNamNet Bridge – Representatives from Japan, China, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam gathered at the 13th BESATOHA in Tokyo on October 11 -12.
BESETOHA is a forum in which four East Asian representatives - Peking University, Seoul National University, Vietnam National University in Hanoi and the University of Tokyo - meet to discuss the present state and future directions of university education, basic education and cultural education.
This year’s forum is themed “Integration of Knowledge-the Role of Universities in an Age of Advanced Technology and Globalization.”
At the seminar, leaders from four universities presented opinions and experience in promoting integration of knowledge in line with current situation of each country and each university.
Professor Mai Trong Nhuan, President of Hanoi National University said general education or providing general knowledge for students is an ideal educational method in the lifelong learning process that helps improve learners’ capacity and awareness of the need for individual retraining.
President of Tokyo University Hamada Junichi said overcoming the aftermath of disasters in Japan on March 11 requires integration of knowledge, ranging from advanced scientific technology to notes in historical documents.
Four universities take turns organising the annual event. Hanoi National University hosted the previous BESETOHA last year.
