Singapore - Parkway Novena Hospital on track to open in 2012

SINGAPORE: The topping up ceremony of the new Parkway Novena Hospital took place on Tuesday. The hospital is set to open in the second half of 2012.

The 333-bed hospital will house the latest medical equipment and fully single-bedded patient suites, and will focus on treatments of heart and vascular diseases, orthopaedics and neurosciences, as well as general surgery.

It has also received in-principle, the Green Mark Platinum certification from Singapore's Building and Construction Authority for its eco-friendly features, and will also be the first private hospital in Singapore to use a fully electronic, paper-less system.

Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong was the guest of honour at the ceremony.

In his speech, Chairman of Parkway Pantai, Mohammed Azlan Hashim, said that the new hospital is the crown jewel of the Parkway Pantai group in Singapore. He added that it would complement its network of hospitals, particularly Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Parkway East Hospital in Singapore.

He also said that the hospital will play an important role in Singapore's healthcare ecosystem.

Mohammed Azlan said: "Parkway Pantai Limited Group truly believes that this hospital at Parkway Novena will contribute to Singapore achieving a good balance and mix of private and public healthcare providers, as we work together to strengthen Singapore's position as the medical hub for the region."
