Malaysia - When the numbers add up

IT would appear as if nothing can go wrong tomorrow (11.11.11). Astrologers and fortune tellers said everything would go accordingly on this day, whether or not celestial powers were present to provide assistance.

Astrologer and numerologist Sivasri M.A.R. Nithiyanantha Gurukal said adding all the individual numbers which made up the date (11.11.2011) spelled "8" -- a number that symbolised power according to some schools of thought.

"You cannot go wrong with this number as it is a powerful and auspicious number."

Sivasri said the moon represented cheerfulness and prosperity, and its position and presence on the date would help people display those qualities prominently.

"The moon is equally as important as the sun as it balances up the world."

He said 11.11.11 falls a day after Pournami or full moon and holding any auspicious functions or events would bring good fortune.

Sivasri also said the date was good for brides or bridegrooms whose birthday falls on the second, fifth and seventh as it complemented the date well.

"For maximum 'effect', people should wear light-coloured or cream-coloured clothing on that day."

Sivasri, who will be conducting a wedding ceremony in a Hindu temple tomorrow, dismissed the claims by some who said the date was not good for wedding.

Astrologer and consultant gemologist Dr G. Paramasivam said 11.11.11 was a good day for rulers, political parties and for crowning ceremonies.

This was because the star of the day called Parani Natchatiram was a lucky charm for rulers.

India-based astrologer and Vasthu Sastra consultant Yuvaraj Sowma urged people to wear white as 11.11.11 was governed by the planet Venus whose auspicious colour was white.

"I would like to urge people to wear white clothing at least from their waists up if they are unable to wear all white," he said, adding that marriages, meeting life partners, making proposals for business, travelling and holding group prayers on 11.11.11 would lead to auspicious results.

Another astrologer Ooi Leng Chooi said there were no extraordinary celestial powers that made the date an especially auspicious one.

"It is not that the elements are combined or funnelled in a way that will bring prosperity to the people, but rather the actions of the people who believe the date as such."

However, he said those who had planned their weddings, business launches or even child delivery date should not despair.

He added that the long line of auspicious events planned for tomorrow would turn even the worst of days to good.

"Many people believe that the day will be a good one and as the mindset of the masses is currently fixated on this day, the collective thought and emotions of the many will generate positive energies everyone can feel.

"The date 11.11.11 is still a good day, but only because people make it so and not due to some higher power," he added.

Another astrologer E. Kamalanathan said the date was nothing but a pretty number and had no effect on the planetary movements that determined the day's auspiciousness.
