Vietnam - Hanoi to change work hours as of 2012


VietNamNet Bridge – Three days after a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Hanoi has amended its work-hour plan. The change will be applied as of January 1, 2012 in 12 districts.

According to Hanoi’s Vice Chair Nguyen Van Khoi, the work hour changing plan has been amended as follows:

The work time for army units and workers at factories will not change. University and high-school students will start studying from 6.30am and finish at 7pm.

Primary and kindergarten students will begin studying from 7.30am and finish at 5.30pm. State employees will work from 8am to 5pm. 

Shopping and service centers (except for finance and banking services) will begin working from 9am and close after 7pm.

The plan will be applied in ten inner districts and two suburban districts of Thanh Tri and Tu Liem.

The new plan is introduced three days after a meeting between Hanoi’s officials with Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and related agencies to consider Hanoi’s work-hour change scheme.
