Vietnam - Viet Nam prioritises closer ties with Romania

VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam considers enhancing its friendship and multifaceted co-operation with Romania as well as traditional Eastern European friends a priority in the country’s foreign policy.

Viet Nam National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the statement at a meeting with visiting Chairman of Romania’s House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Relations Korodi Attila, in the capital yesterday.

Ngan described Attila’s visit as a practical move that contributed to strengthening co-operation between the two countries.

She expressed her pleasure at the fruitful development in friendship and parliamentary co-operation between the two sides and spoke highly of the Romanian House of Representatives’ establishment of the Romania-Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Viet Nam’s NA was currently in the process of establishing the Parliamentary Friendship Organisation, including the Viet Nam-Romania Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ngan said.

She thanked the Romanian Parliament for creating conditions for Vietnamese NA delegations to study and exchange experiences, saying she hoped that the friendship and co-operation between the two legislative bodies would develop further.

For his part, Attila said that Romania wished to boost relations between the two sides and that it was ready to work as a bridge linking Viet Nam with the European market.

He hoped Viet Nam would in turn help Romania enhance its trade relations with Asian countries.

On the same day, Ngan witnessed the signing of a protocol on co-operation between Viet Nam’s NA Office and the Secretariat of the Romanian House of Representatives.
