Vietnam - Flood tide to rise highly in Saigon during Christmas

VietNamNet Bridge – The Hydrometeorological Forecast Station of the Southern Region--forecast that the year-end flood tide will happen from December 21-28.

The highest water level in the downstream area of the Saigon River and the canal system in HCM City may reach 1.5 meters (the third alarming level) on December 24. At this level, some sunken areas in the city will be flooded.

The HCM City Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control has urgently asked departments and districts to check their dikes and prepare materials and human resources in case incidents happen to prevent flood and losses.

The police and voluntary youth forces are requested to be ready to deal with traffic jams during the flood tide.
