Malaysia - Many restaurants still using illegal halal logos

Many outlets are still displaying halal logos that are not endorsed by the Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Kosmo! reported.

A check in Shah Alam found that many restaurants were still using logos from the Islamic Food and Research Centre (IFRC), which are not recognised in Malaysia.

The IFRC is one of five private agencies that have been blacklisted by the Selangor religious authorities for endorsing halal food products without permission.

The paper had earlier reported that about 1,900 premises were still using halal logos from private companies that had not been endorsed.
