VietNamNet Bridge – University and junior college lecturers would get several million dong in Tet bonuses this year. Especially, a university offered the Tet bonus of 70 million dong.
University lecturers always feel jealous with the workers of enterprises because workers always get higher salaries and higher Tet bonuses. However, they would feel better with this year’s Tet bonuses. Universities all have said that every lecturer would get several million dong in Tet bonus, so that they can better celebrate Tet.
The member schools of the HCM City National University prove to be very generous when awarding their staffs. The HCM City University for Social Sciences and Humanity, for example, plans to give 10 million dong to every lecturer in Tet bonus, while the International University plans to give 8 million dong.
In Hanoi, the head of the training division of a prestigious school, said he expects to receive the same Tet bonus as the last year. This means that the Tet bonuses would not be higher than three times of the average income of every person within 10 months. As such, the bonuses would be different, depending on the length of services and the positions. However, the lowest lest would be 5-7 million dong.
Lecturers of non-state owned schools also expect satisfactory bonuses. At the Lac Hong University, for example, the Tet bonuses would be between 8.5 million dong and 70 million dong.
The Van Lang applies a strange method of calculating Tet bonuses: adding up the salaries of all employees of the school and then divided the sum among the people. An officer of the school said hat the “formula” has been applied for the last many years, and all feel satisfactory with the method.
He said that the Tet bonus is expected to be 6.8-7 million dong.
The Hanoi Garment and Textile Technology Junior College has planned to offer the Tet bonus higher by 30 percent than the previous year. Hoang Xuan Hiep, Deputy President of the school, said that the 335 officers and lecturers would get the 13th month salary, 4.8 million dong at least, while management officers would get more, depending on their positions.
Hiep said that the state budget does not include the Tet allowance to teachers. Therefore, the school has to earn money itself by providing services, conducting scientific research works and providing training services to the order of enterprises.
Pham Van Bong, Head of the Training Division of the Hanoi Industry University, said that the school plans to offer the same bonus this year. The school’s income has been stable, while it had to spend more money on the construction items.
“I think that the single award level of 3-4 million dong would be offered to every one of the school, from the president to officer, who has 12 month works at the school,” he said.
Local universities expect to have more modest Tet bonuses. Hoang Xuan Quang, Deputy President of the school said that with the staff of 900 people, it is really very difficult to arrange money for the Tet bonus fund. However, every employee would still get 1.5 million dong at least.
At the Nguyen Tat Thanh University, everyone would receive one million dong only. Nguyen Manh Hung, President of the school, said that the school applies a special policy in using the welfare fund. “We offer bonuses not only on Tet holiday, but on different holidays of the year, including the Teachers’ Day, the Liberalization Day, or the school’s traditional day.
Meanwhile, every lecturer of the Thai Nguyen University for Industrial Polytechnique would get 2 million dong in Tet bonuses. This is enough to make them joyful, because they got only one million dong last year.
