Vietnam - Hanoi strives to raise GDP per capita to over US $7,000 by 2020



The Hanoitimes -  Hanoi strives to raise the GDP per capita to around US $7,100-7,500 by 2020 and US $16,000-17,000 by 2030, according to the city’s new socio-econoc development strategy until 2030, with vision to 2050 which has been approved by the PM.

The capital city sets to achieve the annual GDP growth rate of 12-13% between 2011 and 2020 and 9.5-10% in the 2021-2030 period.

Over the next decade, the service sector is expected to account for 54-55%, industry-construction 30-31% and agriculture 14-16%.

The population is projected to be around 7.9-8 million people by 2020 and 9.2 million people by 2030.

To achieve the aforesaid targets, Hanoi will focus o­n improving infrastructure and traffic system, including metro lines and urban railways and expanding Nội Bài International Airport.

The city targets to develop high-quality human resources and raise the trained laborers to 70-75% by 2020 and 85-90% by 2030.

Thirsty percent of the total workforce will work in field of high-tech and professional services sectors and 10% in the fields of science and technology, design, consultation and arts.

The city also strives to create jobs for around 140,000-150,000 turns of people over the next ten years and around 120,000-130,000 o­nes in phase from 2021-2030.

Hanoi will energize its development by modernizing and synchronizing urban infrastructure, producing high-quality human resources, and accelerating administrative reform.

The total social investment for the 2011-2020 period is estimated at around US $180-190 billion and around US $ 300-320 billion for the following ten years.
