The
information analyzing and rating company Nielsen previously had reported the
consumer confidence index of the world in Q4 of 2011 rose one point against the
previous quarter, but its latest report Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence
Survey made from November 23 to December 9, 2011 showed that the figure
declined average 60% in 56 surveyed nations.
According to the latest report, Vietnam’s
consumer confidence index surged 3 points to 99 pts. This was the first time
the country’s index rose in 2011 after three decrease quarters. In the marking
table of Nielsen, the 100 point level is considered as the important threshold
to differentiate the pessimism or optimism of consumers.
Concerning the survey result in Vietnam alone,
Nielsen said, 58% of consumers believed in a good work potential in 2012,
rising one percentage point against the third quarter of 2011. However, up to
71% of questioned people expected that next 12 months would not be good time
for shopping.
In line with another study of Niesel in Q4 of
2011, 66% of online repliers thought that Vietnam was falling in the recession
period, down 3 percentage points compared with Q3 survey but still up 11 points
against Q4 of 2010.
34% of surveyed people hope to escape from the
recession in 2012 and 84% of consumers have changed spending plan to save
living cost.
With above data, Nielsen assessed Vietnam
ranks among top global consumer index.
Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Survey has
been conducted since 2005 to summarize the faith, fear and shopping trend of
over 28,000 consumers via internet in 56 countries.
