AB Sciex has opened its newest Asia Pacific
Regional Application & Training Centre in Singapore for applications such

Sciex
has opened its newest Asia Pacific Regional Application & Training Centre
in Singapore’s biomedical hub at Biopolis.
The
centre provides service, support and application development to enable the
scientific community in Singapore and the rest of ASEAN, Australia New Zealand,
Japan and Korea to continue its increasing use of mass spectrometry
technologies for a broad range of applications such as food and environmental
testing, forensics and clinical research.
The new
Singapore facility complements the regional application support centre that the
company opened last year in Shanghai, China.
The
Singapore facility serves as a regional hub for the scientific community to
learn about the latest innovations in analytical-based laboratory
instrumentation.
Its
primary functions include sample analysis, instrument and workflow
demonstrations, comprehensive training programs, region-specific applications
development, on-site and remote customer support, and scientific collaborations
with research leaders in a variety of life science disciplines.
"This
center aims to increase the proficiency of engineers, which usually trains 100
people over a period of one to two weeks," Rainer Blair, president, tells
Asia Food Journal.
"We
have located the centre in Singapore due to the increase in research and
development in the region’s healthcare sector, investment in the increasing
analysis of proteins and the growth of the economy in Asia Pacific. We find the
governemnts in this region are increasing the quality of the lives of their
citizens, the growing awareness of food safety, such as the recent food act in
India.”
