It’s time every official took the initiative in self-criticism and improvement without waiting for a relevant conference to be held or a relevant policy to be issued, said Mr Trong at the closing ceremony of a Party conference in Hanoi on February 29.
He said criticism and self-criticism should be practised more frequently from the central to grassroots levels, and ranking officials must be the pioneers in this campaign.
He said all Party organisations must draw up a specific roadmap with appropriate steps to carry out the campaign and publicise it amongst their members.
The Party leader stressed the need to pay more attention to the personnel work by establishing an objective and scientific mechanism to select a contingent of officials with the moral competence to fulfil the tasks in the new context.
He also called for preferential treatments for officials to ensure they devote themselves to their work.
The General Secretary urged Party and State organisations to strengthen political and ideological education and information provision to help officials have a correct view of the situation, maintain their political stance and remain loyal to the Party’s ideals and the nation’s chosen path to socialism.
He said some members of the Party’s Political Bureau and the Secretariat will oversee the implementation of the Party resolution on Party building.
During the three-day sitting, delegates have given nearly 700 opinions, reaching a strong consensus on the significance and importance of the resolution.
They said the resolution pointed out the current situation and put forward feasible solutions for Party building, meeting the practical requirements of life and aspirations of officials, Party members and the public.
