The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET)
announced Friday the six tests that 12th graders must take in the forthcoming
high school graduation exam which takes place on June 2, 3, and 4.
Full-time
students will accordingly sit for tests on math, literature, foreign languages,
chemistry, geography, and history while part-time ones and those coming from
disadvantaged areas will take physics as a replacement of the foreign language
test.
The
students will take a test on one of the following languages, depending on their
curricula: English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, and Japanese.
MoET
will use multiple-choice tests for physics, chemistry, and foreign languages
whereas the constructed-response testing form will be applied in math,
literature, history, and geography.
Visually
impaired students or those who have been selected for the national team to
compete in international academic contests are exempt from the exam.
This is
the fourth consecutive year geography has been chosen, a surprise to both
students and teachers since it is somehow an unwritten rule that the first
three tests are fixed but the rest change every year.
The
exam is one of the two most important for Vietnamese 12th graders, the other
being the national university entrance exam due one month later.
