Vietnam - Vietnamese students celebrate Woman’s Day overseas

From buying flowers to setting off on a trip, male Vietnamese students in Russia, Taiwan and Australia are trying to make March 8 a memorable day for the beautiful women around them.

On Wednesday afternoon, some Vietnamese men suddenly went missing in a Russian class at the Irkutsk State University. Later, female teachers and students in the class were surprised and touched when they saw the guys coming back with flowers in their hands. Even though the temperature outside was -11 degrees Celsius, the gentlemen made plans and managed to get the freshest flowers to the women they care about.

In another example, a group of Vietnamese students at the two biggest universities in Irkutsk city also planned a trip to Baikal, the world’s deepest lake, on women’s day. The girls are not allowed to do anything, just relax and enjoy the picturesque scenery while the young guys will prepare a meal for the whole group.

Similarly, on the occasion of Woman’s Day, the Vietnamese student association at the National Taiwan University also went on a trip to Mt. Yangming, the largest and most beautiful mountain in the country, featuring volcanic sights, valleys, waterfalls and hot springs. In a field of beautiful flowers and plants, the boys will send the warmest greetings and gifts to the girls. Also during the trip, the association celebrated the birthdays of those who were born in March and April.

There is no holiday, but a new school year starts in the southern hemisphere at the beginning of March. However, Vietnamese students at the University of Swinburne in Australia are all set for a welcome party on Woman’s Day. This is not just an event to greet new students, but also a chance for everyone to meet up and celebrate the special day for females.

“The party will bring a lot of surprises. 40 roses will be given to the first women to arrive. We hope to create a good memory for our female friends on their day,” said Phan Minh Duc, one of the organizers.
