Indonesia’s
Environmental Affairs Ministry will increase funding for projects next year in
a bid to address some of the archipelago’s most pressing environmental
concerns.
The ministry will focus on land rehabilitation, infrastructure and air
and water issues in the coming year, Environmental Affairs Minister Balthasar
Kambuaya said in Jakarta on Thursday at the closing of the National Congress on
Environmental Protection and Management 2012.
“I have given instructions that in 2013 we will have to be focused and
prioritize what we are doing. Focus and priority are important. Therefore, I
invite everyone to review our programs and make a list of priorities,” he said.
The three-day National Congress on Environmental Protection and
Management 2012 wrapped up in Jakarta on Thursday.
