Laos - Market “times out” for a second day

After a great (MTD August) turnover, the market “time out” extended for a second day into Monday’s trading session with a small (2) points drop in the Index and a 100 kip fall in BCEL banking stock’s share price.

In an uneventful day 37K stocks crossed for US$25.5K. EDL-Gen was unchanged at 4,800 kip.

BCEL opened at 7,500 kip but fell -350 kip in the 5th session to 7,150 kip, but that was short lived as it recovered to 7,400 kip at the close. Volumes have fallen right away in the past two days since the stock went ex- dividend but strong demand still exists for the banking stock.

EDL-Gen slipped -50 kip for two sessions but the blue chip electricity stock recovered and closed unaltered on higher but very moderate to low volumes of 29K shares.
