Vietnamese ambassador in Japan Doan Xuan Hung expects the Vietnam-Japan
Meeting 2012 slated to take place in Japan from September 13-17 to beef up
strategic partnership relations to a level commensurate with each country’s
potential.
The Vietnam-Japan Meeting 2012
hosted by the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry will be the largest ever event to
promote Vietnamese nation and people in Japan. How was the idea of hosting such
an event perceived?
The bilateral trade relationships
between two countries have been developing robustly. The Japanese government,
business community and people have paid constant attention to searching
investment and tourism opportunities in Vietnam. Hence, coming up with
national-level promotion activities in Japan brings a strong message reflecting
our desire to foster far-reaching bilateral cooperation in diverse areas,
particularly in economic fields aimed at enhancing connectivity with Japanese
corporate community and people.
From 2008 until present, the
Vietnamese embassy in Japan has teamed up with Japanese counterparts to host
annual event Vietnamese Festival at Yoyogi Park (Tokyo) which entailed resound
success and attracted over 100,000 natives and overseas Vietnamese in Japan
each time. This year, several state agencies and local governments mulled
arranging specific investment, trade and tourism promotion activities in Japan.
The Foreign Ministry then decided to combine these activities to the Vietnam
Festival to a single Vietnam-Japan Meeting 2012 with aims to scaling up mutual
relations.
What message does Vietnam want to
deliver though the activity?
The event will consist of four
parts. Investment promotion forum into Vietnam’s industrial zones and economic
zones, focusing on supporting industries, music and song performance combined
with a paintings exhibition under the theme ‘Vietnam-endless beauty’,
Vietnam-Japan cooperative meeting on vocational training and human resources
development and Vietnam Festival 2012.
Each part will be a red hall in
the overall authentic picture about Vietnam we want to deliver to Japanese
friends.
Through the event, we want to
forward the message Vietnam treasures building up strategic comprehensive
partnership relations with Japan to commensurate both countries’ potential,
increasing investment in Japan’s advantageous areas in which Vietnam wants to
expand cooperation, fostering cooperating in vocational and human resources
training, simultaneously promoting the image of Vietnamese land and people in
Japan, paving the way to celebrate 40-year establishment of diplomatic ties
between our two countries.
Have any difficulties been faced?
The Vietnam-Japan Meeting 2012 is
a national-level investment promotion activity, the first of its kind to take
place in Japan. Thereby, difficulties relevant to organising activities are
real. Besides, the Vietnamese embassy has never hosted such a big event. We,
however, believe the event will end with success with our strong determination,
close cooperation at home and abroad and particularly active support from Japanese
friends.
