Even though travel companies are offering huge promotions and discounts
to lure tourists, there continues to be a decrease in the number of visitors
since Reunification Day on April 30 and Labor Day on May 1 throughout summer
and even during the coming National Day holidays.
Travel enterprises have joined
hands with airlines, hotels and tourist services across the country to offer
attractive promotions to holiday makers, but people seem to have tightened
spending in these present economic times and are travelling less.
Some companies have received a
number of bookings, almost 60 percent more as compared with the same period
last year. However, only specific tours like those to Phu Quoc, Con Dao and
Phan Thiet run by Saigon Tourist Travel Company, are seeing large numbers of
visitors.
In fact, there are a large number
of tourists travelling during the National Day holidays but these trips are
being privately arranged instead of through travel companies.
The coming National Day holidays
will last for three days and travel firms have promoted short distance tours
from two to four days to Phu Quoc, Con Dao, Phan Thiet, Phu yen, Nha Trang , Da
Lat and other Mekong Delta provinces.
The first ‘Vietnam International
Hot Air Balloon Fiesta’ will be held in Phan Thiet, in the coastal province of
Binh Thuan, from August 29-September 3, and is expected to attract a large
number of visitors. Many side-activities such as kite flying, parachuting, and
art shows will take place during the Fiesta.
