Vietnam asks Taiwan to immediately stop its wrongful activities in the Ban Than Shoal in Vietnam ’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi has said.

Nghi made the statement on September 7 in reply to reporters’ questions on Vietnam ’s reactions to a number of Taiwanese high-ranking officials’ act of planting its flag and claiming sovereignty over the Ban Than Shoal in Vietnam ’s Truong Sa archipelago.

He said: “This is a serious violation of Vietnam ’s territorial sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago, causing tensions and complicating the situation in the East Sea .

“The Vietnamese side resolutely opposes and requests Taiwan immediately stop these wrongful activities and take no further activities to complicate the situation in Truong Sa area.”
