Singapore - Dr Yaacob to attend ASEAN ICT meeting

SINGAPORE - Minister for Communications and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim will be in Cebu, the Philippines, from Nov 14 to 16 to attend the 12th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (TELMIN).

The ASEAN TELMIN, an annual meeting of ASEAN Ministers responsible for telecommunications and information technology, aims to provide policy directions for ASEAN's infocomm technology initiatives and to provide an opportunity for ASEAN to influence international ICT developments.

The 12th TELMIN will also assist ASEAN in accomplishing the objectives of the ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2015 ("AIM2015"), which was adopted during the 10th TELMIN in Malaysia in 2010.

During the sessions, Dr Yaacob will be meeting key government counterparts from ASEAN Member Countries and Dialogue Partners to discuss issues and exchange views on ICT.

The ASEAN ICT Awardswill also be presented for the first time this year.

Dr Yaacob will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA).
