Singapore - PM Lee affirms warm bilateral ties with US Secretary of State Clinton

SINGAPORE: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is on an official visit to Singapore from November 16 to 18, was on Saturday hosted to breakfast by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

PM Lee affirmed the warm bilateral relations and welcomed the continued commitment by the Obama Administration to engage the region.

He expressed appreciation for Mrs Clinton's important role in ensuring the sustained and broad-based US engagement of the region, including in the economic sphere.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional developments, including initiatives for closer US-ASEAN cooperation and the agenda of the upcoming East Asia Summit.

Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam were among those also at the breakfast.

Others at the breakfast were Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu, and Minister of State for the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport, Josephine Teo.
