Vietnam - Prime Minister asks to limit overseas trips

VietNamNet Bridge - According to the statement issued by the Office of the Government yesterday, November 1, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had asked the leaders of ministries, sectors and localities, especially the heads to minimize overseas business trips.

The PM asked officials of government agencies to take the time to focus on directing, handling the assigned tasks, their functions and responsibilities. Officials only go abroad to carry out necessary diplomatic missions and they must ensure the practical results of their trips.

In addition, leaders of ministries, sectors and localities also have to strictly manage overseas business programs of their agencies, under the motto of saving, efficient, and not affecting the time for implementing tasks in the country.

The PM’s instruction aims to reorganize overseas business trips in the context of socio-economic difficulties; the priority must be givent to handles many problems in the country; the need to practice thrift and combat waste.

Also in the spirit of thrift, in the socio-economic debate at the National Assembly on October 31, Minister of Finance Vuong Dinh Hue said that the central budget spending will be cut by about 10 percent. This will be one of the resources devoted to increase wages for workers.
