Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hosted separate receptions in Hanoi on October 31 for visiting State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations of Hungary Szijjarto Peter and new Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam Meirav Eilon Shahar.

At the meeting with the Hungarian guest, who is also co-Chairman of the Hungary-Vietnam Joint Economic Committee, Dung highly valued the results of the fourth meeting of the Hungary-Vietnam Joint Economic Committee, expressing his hope that the two sides will actively implement the agreements reached at this meeting.

He asked them to prioritise bilateral cooperation in economics, trade and investment, affirming that Vietnam always supports and creates favourable conditions for Hungarian investors to do business in the country.

Dung also expressed his hope that Hungary will support the Free Trade Agreement negotiation between Vietnam and the European Union and continue providing Vietnam with official development assistance.

The leader affirmed that Vietnam always backs Hungary in boosting cooperation with ASEAN member countries.

Szijjarto Peter said that in its “Look East” policy, Hungary attaches special importance to the cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economics, trade and investment, affirming that the country will do its utmost to work with Vietnam to further develop the two countries’ economic ties.

He also asked the two sides to expand cooperation in health care, science-technology, and education and training.

At the reception for newly-accredited Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam Meirav Eilon Shahar, Dung said he is delighted at the fine development of the Vietnam-Israel multilateral cooperation over the past times.

He suggested that the two sides strengthen ties in the fields of economics, trade, investment, tourism, science-technology and agriculture, expressing his hope that Israel will provide ODA to Vietnam in infrastructure construction and human resources training.

The leader said he believed that at her new position, the Israeli Ambassador will coordinate with Vietnam’s relevant agencies in promoting the two countries’ multilateral cooperation, affirming that Vietnam will create all favourable conditions for the ambassador to work in the country.

Meirav Eilon Shahar said that Israel is willing to cooperate and share experiences with Vietnam in national construction and development, especially those in developing agriculture, biotechnology, health care and education, hoping that the two sides will support each other at regional and international forums.
