An investment calling list of 134 projects will be presented to foreign and domestic investors at the Investment-Trade-Tourism Promotion conference to be held in Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang province on December 6, 2012, according to Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation (MDEC) 2012 steering committee.

The projects come from 13 provinces of the Mekong Delta region, mainly focussing on sectors of infrastructure development (roads, industrial park, tourism zone, trade center) and agriculture (production of agriculture machines, farm production processing, bio-technology development).

Among those projects, industrial park infrastructure development takes largest ratio with 31 projects in 11 provinces, including some projects that give priorities to foreign investors. Most of industrial parks in Mekong Delta River are designed to cover area of 100-200 hectares with investment of $8-15 million each.

Private and foreign investors are expected to play an important role in agricultural development in the Mekong Delta, the nation’s largest producer of food. Agriculture is most important sector of the region, according to Bui Ngoc Suong, deputy chief of the Southwest Steering Committee.
