Vietnam - Party Chief worries of some party members’ moral downgrade

VietNamNet Bridge – Party Secretary General, Nguyen Phu Trong, said that it is worrying that moral downgrade of part of party members affects the Party’s prestige and erodes people’s trust on the party.


At a meeting with top officials of the Central Inspection Committee last week, Trong affirmed that inspection is a significant task in building the Party, improve the leadership and the struggling power of the Party, and make the Party always pure.

He highlighted the urgent need to halt corruption, degeneration, and wastefulness among party cadres to increase the Party’s purity and strength and regain people’s belief. He said strong action can be taken to strictly deal with wrongdoing within the Party so that discipline and democratic centralism are maintained.

He said that it is worrying about the downgrade of part of Party members’ morality, having affected the Party’s prestige and harmed people’s trust on the Party.

The Central Inspection Commission reported that after the 11th National Party Congress, it advised the Party on setting up delegations to handle with complaints. The commission also examined signs of discipline violations among party members.

Party chief Trong urged party inspectors to improve their own ethical qualities and set a good example for others to follow.
