It is Monday morning again folks. Another working week, another week of holidays, another week rapidly approaching holidays or just another day (if you have lost track of the days!). I hope today finds you all well, healthy and happy whatever you are doing today.
We are still sitting in Airlie Beach this morning. We have been waiting for mail but it has been nice to hang out and get on the bus and go for a wander around town each day. There is not a lot of news to report here apart from our one big news of purchasing a television! I would like to say at this point that it was not my suggestion but I am happy to take the new purchase on board! It is just a little 18inch flat screen that is now wall mounted in the saloon. We do not have an aerial at this stage so really it's only half a tv but it's good to watch our tv shows and movies on.
Yesterday I had two conversations (only very brief - about a minute or two) with two strangers. One was a man who was physically disabled and walked one step at a time at a very slow pace. When I asked him how he was going, he responded 'slowly'. When I said that he was nearly there (to the bus stop) he said he was suffering from whiplash. Clearly I had a confused look on my face and so he continued on saying he had whiplash from watching a snail go past him earlier! I laughed out loud as the conversation continued for another minute in this same pattern. Clearly unable to walk with ease but still a huge smile on his face and what appeared to be - happy in life. The second conversation happened when a young boy, who was walking with his parents, stopped on his way past and asked me how I was going today and what I had done during the day, what he had done during the day etc. I was waiting for Jon to return from the boat and I must have looked like I needed someone to talk to! This kid would have been around 12 or 13. I found it quite interesting that a teenage boy would stop and have a conversation with a perfect stranger. He too was extremely happy and cheerful in his manner.
Over the last week, we have received two lots of sad news. One was of the passing of a wonderful man who used to be our principal at Alyangula. He was very much loved by all who knew him and made you feel that you had a place and something to offer, regardless of age or experience. The other was of a wonderful and loving woman who had an unexpected heart attack. All is well with her heart now but she is still in a coma and her family are waiting for her to wake. (That may have happened since I last spoke to them - hopefully)
Anyway, I guess my point is this: make the most of each day. Love your family and your friends and tell them that you appreciate them. Be thankful for a healthy body regardless of what it looks like and regardless of some of those aches and pains that we get. I know we say this all the time but when it hits a little closer to home, it is always important to take stock of what you have and what is valued. Smile at people - you never know whose day your going to make. Give a friend a call or in this day and age of technology email would be acceptable to but it's always nice to hear a friendly voice! Enjoy what you do each day at work. If you don't, find something else to do! People say it's hard to do but you know, it's really not. Do something nice for yourself each day because really.....You just never know.
Ok....that's me done for the day. On a lighter note - we are heading out and about today....eventually! It is only 7.30am after all!
I haven't attempted any fishing here yet but I have pichards that I probably should use so I will try later in the day or feed the fish.....whichever!
Have a wonderful Monday whatever you are doing! Thank you for reading my blog and checking out the photos! I hope you are enjoying reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
Love
Claris
Life is short, don't waste time worrying about what people think of you. Hold on to the ones that care, in the end they will be the ones there. - Unknown
