The
ASEAN +3 (China, Republic of Korea and Japan) Youth Caucus was open here on
Tuesday under the theme, "Youth and Human Resource Development",
which was one among events held in the framework of the 7th ASEAN Ministerial
Meeting on Youth (AMMY 7) hosted by Vietnam.
Human resource is always of special importance
to every nation, and young human resource plays an important and decisive role
to the country's development, addressed Secretary of Vietnamese Ho Chi Minh
Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Phan Van Mai.
The forum would provide opportunities for
youth to speak out their thinking and share experience, and recommend solutions
to further bring into full play the role and contribution of youth to national
development and building of the ASEAN community, Mai said.
The caucus aimed at educating youth in ASEAN
member countries about the importance of high-quality human resource for the
ASEAN community and encouraging them to devote capability to building an ASEAN
community of unity.
During the forum, which will last through
October 21, participants will discuss in groups on such issues as what youth
should do to promote the formation of a knowledge society in ASEAN+ 3;
knowledge for youth to cope with, and receive benefit, in the era of
globalization; promotion of young businessmen's skills; solutions to encourage
youth to devote, and expand cooperation among ASEAN+3 in human resource
development.
Results of debates at the forum will be
presented at ASEAN+3 Ministerial Meeting on Youth.
On the sidelines of the meeting, participants
will join in various events, including the ASEAN Culture Night, tour to Ha Long
Bay and vote for it as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, meetings with
students of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, and visits to museums and local
sites.
