Mozambique will open an embassy in Vietnam later this year to boost cooperation between the two countries.
This was disclosed in Maputo on Friday by Mozambique's Deputy Foreign Minister, Eduardo Koloma, shortly after the end of the two countries' Joint Inter-Governmental Meeting.
During the meeting, which began in Maputo on Wednesday, both countries shared experiences and took stock of the level of implementation of the actions agreed during the first meeting.
Koloma said that both countries agreed that there is a need to intensify and diversify relations beyond the diplomatic level.
To this end, a Mozambican delegation is currently in Vietnam working to identify the most appropriate means to set up the future Mozambican Embassy in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital.
Koloma added that the future Mozambican Embassy will organise seminars to promote the wide range of opportunities existing in the country for Vietnamese investors.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Diep Kinh Tan, led the Vietnamese delegation, while Eduardo Koloma headed the Mozambican delegation.
Currently, Mozambique and Vietnam have cooperation agreements covering education, health, agriculture, fisheries and telecommunications.
Relations between Mozambique and Vietnam date back to the time when both peoples were fighting for their self-determination.
