Brunei - Chinese premier leaves Brunei for home

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left here Monday morning for home after concluding his official visit to Brunei.

Before his departure, Wen held talks on Monday with Bruneian Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on bilateral ties and issues of common concern.

Wen also met Brunei's royal family members and visited the University of Brunei Darussalam on Sunday afternoon.

Prior to the Brunei visit, the Chinese premier attended a series of meetings for East Asian leaders in Bali of Indonesia, including the 14th summit between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) commemorating the 20th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue relations, the 14th summit between ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), the sixth East Asia Summit, as well as a trilateral summit between China, Japan and the ROK.

Wen discussed with leaders on further development of regional cooperation, and put forward several pragmatic proposals to enhance China-ASEAN cooperation and East Asia cooperation. The summits also issued some documents including a joint statement of the China-ASEAN commemorative summit, a declaration on the reciprocal relationship and a declaration on ASEAN connectivity.

On the sidelines of the summits, Wen also held talks respectively with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, U.S. President Barack Obama, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
