Malaysia - Healthcare company does its bit

CHARITY Schoolchildren receive nutritional products and Deepavali money.

FORTY pupils from SJK(T) Ladang Edinburgh in Kepong recently received a Deepavali treat from healthcare company Gemilang Asia Healthcare Sdn Bhd.

Gemilang Asia Healthcare gave each of the children, aged between 7 and 12 years, hampers worth RM40 as well as RM10 red packets.

Gemilang Asia Healthcare director, Sam Munisamy, said the children were chosen from the school’s food supplement programme list.

“As a healthcare company, we wanted our corporate social responsibility programme to reflect our stand on nutrition,” he said.

“We also wanted to give these pupils better nutritional items, coming as they do from poor homes and a partially-aided vernacular school.”

The school’s teachers praised the company for its contribution.

One teacher, who declined to be named, said many of the children usually faced a bleak Deepavali as they came from poor families that could afford little.

Gemilang Asia Healthcare, she said, gave them a reason to look forward to the celebration.
