Malaysia - Malaysia to 'benefits in S'pore venture'

MALAYSIA will benefit from its 60 per cent holding in M-S Pte Ltd, the Singapore-Malaysia joint venture company that will develop five plots of land in Singapore, four in Marina South and one in Ophir-Rochor

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said in a written reply to Hee Loy Sian (PKR-PJ Utara), that the gross development value of the projects was estimated at RM27 billion (S$10 billion).

Najib, who is also finance minister, said Malaysia has also received strong commitment from Singapore to build a Rapid Transit System between Johor Baru and Singapore.

Najib said Iskandar's investment could increase through Singapore's agreement to invest in a 500 acre "iconic wellness township".

He said the joint venture between Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Temasek Holdings, the investment arm of the Singapore government, in the form of Pulau Indah Ventures Sdn Bhd would also improve the business sentiments of Singaporean companies in Iskandar Malaysia.

The establishment of the joint-ministerial committee in 2007 between the governments of the two countries and other working groups to focus on immigration, transport, tourism and environment would also be beneficial.
