SINGAPORE - Mr Lawrence
Wong, Minister of State for Defence and Education, will lead a delegation to
study the higher education system in Hong Kong from tomorrow to Wednesday.
In Hong Kong, Mr Wong will meet
with senior officials from the Education Bureau. He will also visit several
organisations and tertiary education institutions, including the Vocational
Training Council, the Open University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University.
This is part of the work of the
Committee on University Education Pathways Beyond 2015 (CUEP).
The committee was set up last
year after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong mentioned in his National Day Rally
speech that there is a need to further develop and expand the university sector
in Singapore.
Mr Wong will be accompanied by
CUEP committee members and officials from the Ministry of Education.
