Data from some banks’ financial report in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2011 has revealed the huge income of employees working in the banking sector. The income at Vietcombank, particularly, averaged at 22.4 million dong per month, leading in the industry last year.

Such a high average income is attached with Vietcombank’s pre-tax profit of over 5.9 trillion dong in 2011.

The bank has not revealed the average income but the figure was estimated at 176 million dong per year (14.7 million dong/person/month) after dividing 1.690 trillion dong into 9,600 employees.

In 2009 and 2010, average income of Sacombank employee was 9.4 million dong and 8.6 million dong/person/month, respectively.

In 2010, Vietinbank led among banks with the average income of 18.55 million dong/month, followed by Vietcombank with 17 million dong/month. Notably, as the third top salary payer in 2010, SCB’s employee salary was 13 million dong/month, up 30% year on year. SCB was one of three banks being merged into new SCB with TinNghiaBank and Ficombank.
