Singapore - AVA executes emergency preparedness response to bird flu

SINGAPORE: Some 200 staff from the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) have taken part in a bird culling exercise code-named "Exercise Gallus VI".

It's the sixth such exercise that will test AVA's crisis management framework and operational readiness when dealing with a bird flu outbreak.

This is also the first time a foam decontamination process was used.

It's said to be more effective in removing dirt as compared to the previous liquid decontamination method.

Instead of real chickens, some 100 sandbags were used.
