A managing board member at Han Hai Nguyen
Elementary School in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 11 helped fifth-graders cheat
on their recent end-of-semester math test by asking a physical education
instructor to bring the test questions out for a group of fifth-grade teachers
to answer, according to district education officials.
One of
the exam proctors refused to receive the answers and strongly protested the
cheating when the instructor returned to distribute them so that they would
deliver the responses to the students, the officials said.
Nguyen
Le Thu, vice chief of the district’s education board, told Tuoi Tre Friday that
investigations had been launched at the school and the grading work had been
done under close supervision.
Nothing
unsual has yet been found out about the students’ marks when compared to their
overall performance during the school year, Thu said, adding there were only 15
out of 200 students earned a maximum score.
So all
of the students will not have to do the test gain, she asserted.
