Vietnam - Japanese firm active with school building project

Japan’s Aeon Group on Mar. 27 inaugurated the Quang Loi 2 Primary School in Quang Dien district of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

The work is part of a cooperative project to build 30 schools and boost afforestation between Thua Thien Hue province and Aeon Group.

The VND3 billion (US$144,000) two storey school consists of eight classrooms and two teachers’ rooms, capable of providing as many as 250 local pupils with comfortable schooling conditions, particularly in the flood season.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Tanizaki Yasuaki said with aid from the Japanese Government, private companies, including Aeon Group, are joining in helping Vietnam.

Ten primary schools have been constructed in the province since 2010 when Aeon Group started building the school, and 20 more are scheduled to be completed between 2012 and 2013.
