HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of
Brunei Darussalam attended the 13th Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition
yesterday at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur.
His
Majesty was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik.
Upon
arrival at the PWTC, His Majesty was greeted by Dato' Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid
Hamidi, Minister of Defence of Malaysia, General Tan Sri Dato' Sri Zulkifeli
Mohd Zin, Chief of Armed Forces of Malaysia, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaluddin, Chairman
of the Defence Services Asia Exhibition and other senior military officials.
Also
present at the PWTC to greet His Majesty was Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj
Aminuddin Ihsan Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Hj Abidin, Commander
of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
His
Majesty consented to view a replica of the Euro Jet Fighter Typhoon at the
compound of the Merdeka Hall before touring various exhibition halls inside the
PWTC.
After
viewing the replica of the Euro Jet Fighter Typhoon, His Majesty was taken to
view exhibitions in Hall 4 and 3 of the PWTC. The event proceeded with His
Majesty visiting the PWTC Link Bridge where the Army Dynamic Display took
place.
During
the display a hostage rescue demonstration was performed by the Counter
Terrorist Unit of the Special Forces Group of the Malaysian Army.
At the
end of the demonstration, His Majesty toured exhibitions in Hall 2 and 1 of the
PWTC. Before concluding the visit, His Majesty attended an afternoon tea hosted
by Dato' Dr Ahmad Zahid.
While
touring the exhibition a number of companies presented His Majesty with
pesambah.
Government
officials from Brunei who accompanied His Majesty at the 13th DSA Exhibition
were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul
Rahman Hj Ibrahim, Minister of Finance II at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO),
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng,
Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and other senior officials.
The 13th
DSA Exhibition is aimed at the development of defence and security industries
and has attracted exhibitors worldwide including manufacturers and distributors
of defence technology equipment and weapons, missiles, tanks, fire control
systems and other related technologies.
The
exhibition's official website http://www.dsaexhibition.com/ says that an
expected 850 companies from 45 countries are participating. The exhibition is
spread across 40,000 square metres.
The
four-day exhibition is themed "The Global Defence Services and Government
Security Event". It began yesterday and will end April 19, 2012.
There
were some 25 international group pavilions such as Australia, Austria, Brazil,
Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy,
Portugal, Romania, South Korea, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Singapore,
Slovakia, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and USA.
The
visit to the 13th DSA Exhibition was part of the itinerary of His Majesty's
head of state visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
