Bridge – The Ministry of Transport
calculates that from now to 2030 it will need more than VND12 trillion to build
its headquarters ($1 trillion or $50 million) and the offices of its
departments, corporations, etc.
According
to a project, approved by Minister Dinh La Thang, the ministry needs nearly
VND224 trillion ($11.2 billion) to modernize its offices, IT facilities, the crews
of ships and aircraft, and human resources training by 2030.
Specifically,
the ministry needs more than VND12.17 trillion (over $600 million) to upgrade
its headquarters in Hanoi, the offices of eight general departments, 22
corporations and six schools.
Of the
number, investment in the ministry’s headquarters is VND1 trillion ($50
million), VND1.32 trillion for the office of the General Department of Road
Management and VND2.435 trillion for the Vietnam Vehicle Registration Agency.
The
capital will be used to build new offices for some agencies that have not had
offices and upgrade the offices of others. The Ministry of Transport plans to
build its new office in My Dinh, Tu Liem district, Hanoi.
The
Ministry also estimates around VND30 trillion ($1.5 billion) to develop the
ship crew of the Vietnam Shipping Lines Corporation (Vinalines) to 67 ships,
totaling 15 million tons by 2015 and an additional VND70 trillion ($3.5
billion) by 2030 to have 95 ships.
Regards
to aviation, the ministry plans to invest VND80 trillion ($40 billion) to
develop the crew of Vietnam Airlines to 181 aircrafts by 2020, including 70
owned by Vietnam Airlines and 101 hired planes.
According
to the ministry, to implement this plan, it needs VND20 trillion ($1 billion)
from the state budget to invest in software, IT infrastructure to serve
management task, to build offices and train staff.
