Singapore will start a Facebook fan page for
Asean member states to showcase arts and culture activities during its stint as
the second Asean City of Culture.
This
was announced by Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Yaacob
Ibrahim on Thursday at the opening of the fifth meeting of the Asean Ministers
Responsible for Culture and the Arts (Amca) at Mandarin Orchard hotel.
The
Facebook page will come in handy when other cities get chosen as the City of
Culture. The recognition first fell on Clark in Pampanga province in the
Philippines, from 2010 to last year.
In his
speech, Dr Yaacob said Asean must reach out to its young people to foster their
sense of shared identity and belonging.
