Pakistan - Indonesia vows support to Pakistan on permanent membership of Asean

Consul General of Indonesia, Rossalis Rusman Adenan, assures business community that his country will support Pakistan to become full permanent member of Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean). Speaking at a meeting of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said that some countries opposing Pakistan's permanent addition into Asean.

He advised business community of both the countries to impress upon their respective governments for early implementation of Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) so that manufacturers should get the benefit of preferential tariffs as a result that they should get the benefit of preferential tariffs.

The Consul General said that the agreement has already been finalised and Indonesia has already approved it. He said that under PTA Pakistan importers would get price benefit on import of palm oil as compared to other countries. The Consul General said that huge potential exists to boost two-way trade and advised business community of both the countries that they should develop more contacts for mutually beneficial business relations.
