Top execs to take part in 'Ex-MBA for Leaders Asean+'
The Nation University, in collaboration
with the country's top corporate executives, has launched the "Ex MBA for
Leaders ASEAN+" programme. It is a remarkable step to produce the cream of
a leadership crop and to secure advantages for Thailand's business sector in
the Asean Economic Community (AEC).
The Asean Economic Com-munity
(AEC) will materialise in 2015, bringing huge challenges together with rich
opportunities.
The right business perspectives
will allow Thai businesspeople to successfully tap into or become further
involved with the AEC market and its more than 600 million people.
In line with its "Corporate
University" concept, the Nation University has designed its new course to
equip interested Thais with great understanding in and preparations for AEC.
"We are ready to play an
active role here," Nation Multimedia Group (NMG) chairman Suthichai Yoon
said.
The Nation University, just like
The Nation, is under the NMG umbrella.
The Ex-MBA for Leaders ASEAN+
programme will have four semesters, over a period of two years. In the first
year, students will learn about basic business and management. In the second,
they will focus more on how to apply their knowledge and use business
strategies.
What makes this programme
extremely special and useful is the fact that many top executives in Thailand
have agreed to share their experiences, knowledge and viewpoints. Interesting
case studies from 10 Asean nations, China, Japan, South Korea and India will be
discussed during the class too.
To date, more than 20 leading
executives have confirmed they will be teaching at the Nation University for
the Ex MBA for Leaders ASEAN+ course.
Among them are: PTT president
& CEO Pailin Chuchottaworn, ICC International president Boonkiet
Chokwatana, Srithai Superware chairman Sanan Angubonkul, Banpu chief executive
officer Chanin Vongkusolkit, Ichitan Group founder Tan Passakornatee, Index
Creative Village co-chief executive officer Kriangkrai Kanjanapokin,
national-police-chief designate Police General Adul Saengsingkaew and Bank of
Thailand governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul.
Thanakorn Seriburi, president of
CP's Automotive Industry Business Group (China), Dr Nattakit Tangpoonsin-thana,
executive vice president of marketing of Central Pattana Plc, and Dr Sirikul
Laukaikul, founder and adviser to Brand Being Co, have also jumped in.
Other participating executives
are Sabina chief executive officer Boonchai Banthura-amporn, Boutique Newcity
chairperson Sirina Pavarolavidya, Chodechai Suwanaporn - PTT executive vice
president, Energy Economics & Policy, Kiatnakin Bank executive Piyasak
Manason, Charoen Pokphand Foods senior vice president Supat Sritanatorn,
Kasikorn Bank executive vice president Songpol Chevapanyaroj, Piyasvasti
Amranand, former president of Thai Airways International, TRUE MOVE assistant
director of Strategic Projects and Innovation Atip Asvanund, International
Rescue Committee's human resource consultant Phanit Tiravongchaipunt, Family
Language Centre director Simon Johnson, Far East DDB executive director of
strategic planning and research Somchat Visitchaichan and marketing guru
Thunyawat Chaitrakulchai, who is also well-known host of "SME Tee
Tak" game show.
The Ex MBA for Leaders ASEAN+
programme will begin its class in November. It expects to recruit 60 students this
year, a number expected to soar to 140 in its second year and 250 in its third
year.
"From this programme,
students will get much more than a degree. They will get access to the
knowledge and experience of the country's top CEOs. They will also find business
partners and expand their business networks here," Suthichai said.
High-level executives of many
companies were present at the Nation University's launch of its Ex MBA for
Leaders ASEAN+ programme.
NMG has solid connection with at
least 21 media outlets in Asia. Resources from such links, he believed, will be
very useful too. Boonchai, the CEO of Sabina, said he was pleased NMG had
stepped in to help provide knowledge that would prepare new business leaders
for the AEC.
"The AEC is very important
but Thai businesspeople in general still lack adequate knowledge of and
preparation for it," he said. "NMG can help here. It can offer
comprehensive and all-round knowledge of the AEC".
At the launch, senior vice
president for human resources Jarunan Ithiawatchakul said NMG was well equipped
to introduce such a course.
"It has media and
educational resources. It has knowledge in various fields. It has support from
top CEOs in the country too. Students of the programme will enjoy maximum
benefits," she said.
Apart from Boonchai and Jarunan,
Mega Lifesciences chief executive Vivek Dhawan, Energy Reform top executives
Surachai and Surasak Nittiwat, Preuksa Real Estate chief executive officer
Thongma Vijitpongpun, PTT executives Prasert Salin-ampai and Prapapan
Siramethee, and IRPC assistant vice president Patipol Tadakorn were also
present.
